Calathea's are one of our most loved plants, they are known as Prayer Plants and are a bit temperamental needing the right mixture of humidity and indirect lighting. They are also great as they are pet safe and non-toxic.

Rattlesnake Plant Calathea Lancifolia also known as Goeppertia insignis is native to the Brazilian rainforests. Rattlesnake plant is an evergreen herbaceous perennial that has distinctive patterns of leaves in the light and dark-green shades, ruffled at the edges with a purple underside. Calathea lancifolia is part of the Marantaceae family and like other prayer plants, the leaves fold at nighttime and open up in the day symbolizing a new-onset. This tropical plant is very easy to care for and will flourish in suitable conditions. Being native to the rainforests the Rattlesnake plant requires regularĀ watering and ample amount of humidity. The soil should be moist but not waterlogged. We also allow it to dry out for the top 2 inches before watering. This plant grows best in temperatures that range from 65Ā°-75Ā°F.

Available in the following packaging based on your preference:

  • Nursery Pot - Standard plastic 4" - 6"-planter pot that can be placed inside a larger pot or left as is until it outgrows it.
  • Selene Planter - Ceramic 6.5" Marble PlanterĀ with drainage hole and matching rose gold ceramic tray. The planter measures: 7.5" x 6.5" x 6.5" and weighs approximately 3.7 lbs. We recommend placing your plant in the nursery pot inside it to make it easy to water and transplant.Ā

Disappointed

Rattlesnake calathea, 4" nursery pot. It didn't look nearly as healthy as the one pictured. I was so looking forward to finally getting this plant. When it arrived it had one leaf that was much longer than the others and it was pretty beat up. It had brown edges, had a crease like it had been folded to fit in packaging and it had a tear in it. I ended up cutting it off. A few of the other leaves had browning along the edges. I didn't send it back and I should have taken pictures but I didn't because I thought I'd be able to nurse it back to health and honestly I couldn't find one locally. I have had to remove 2 more leaves and I trimmed some damaged tips recently and it is finally starting to look better but still some funky leaves. I know Calathea are temperamental but I have two other varieties and other than the occasional brown tip they do well.

Nice plant! I hope it likes me back šŸ˜ƒ

It arrived looking nice and Iā€™ve had it for 2 weeks and it still looks good but it appears to be browning on a few leaves. I switched locations and hopefully it flourishes! The one picture with the brown on the soil was the day of arrival and the other was today, 2 weeks later (the one with the blender in the background).
