Carnivorous plants thrive best when they have access to 6 hours of bright light.  Plant may be kept indoors or outdoors.  If outdoors, keep it in partial shade so the traps do not get burned by the sun.  Be sure to use distilled water and keep the sphagnum moss consistently hydrated.  Trim dead traps to keep plant refreshed and this promotes more growth.
