Plant Care
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. It will tolerate medium light, but brighter conditions encourage stronger growth and maintain the beautiful silvery sheen of its leaves. Avoid prolonged direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the foliage.
Water
Allow the top 2 to 3 inches of soil to dry before watering thoroughly. Never let the plant sit in standing water, as overly wet soil can lead to root rot. Reduce watering during the cooler months when growth naturally slows. Add our soil moisture meter to take the guessing out of watering. Never stick your finger in soil again!
Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to average household conditions. Extra humidity will encourage larger leaves and healthier growth.
Temperature
Enjoys temperatures between 65°F and 85°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
Soil
Plant in a well draining aroid mix rich in orchid bark, perlite, and high quality potting soil to promote healthy roots.
Growth Habit
A slow to moderate grower that can either trail beautifully from a hanging planter or climb a moss pole for larger, more mature foliage.
Propagation
Easily propagated through stem cuttings with at least one node. Cuttings can be rooted in water, sphagnum moss, or directly in soil.
Pet Safety
Not Pet Friendly.
Scindapsus treubii contains calcium oxalate crystals and is considered toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep out of reach of curious pets and small children.
Hardiness Zone
USDA Zones 10 to 12. Outdoors, this tropical beauty thrives year round in warm, frost free climates. In cooler regions, it is best enjoyed as a houseplant.
