Norfolk Island Pine
Norfolk Island Pine, also known as 'The Little Holiday tree,' is not a pine tree but a slow-growing, tropical plant native to Norfolk Island near Australia. They have a pretty cool part of history attached to it. Belonging to the Araucariaceae family, Norfolk Island Pine had been widely distributed throughout the world during the age of dinosaurs. With the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event and the dinosaurs, the Araucariaceae family also went extinct in the Northern Hemisphere, but the plants continued to thrive in the Southern Hemisphere.
Norfolk Island Pine - Araucaria heterophylla is very popular as a sustainable Christmas tree and works great in sitting rooms or other spaces as a low maintenance indoor tree that can be used as a small version of a Christmas tree for a dorm room or small space. This gorgeous evergreen tree - the Norfolk Island Pine, brings an outdoor woodsy feel to your indoor space. It can be decorated too!
Being a tropical plant, we recommend keeping them away from cold drafts and heating units during the winter months. Space out your watering sessions when the topsoil layer gets dry. They love added humidity, so mist them with water every day.
