As some of you might know, I have been the owner of Verdant Lyfe here in Coral Springs South Florida for 4 years.
In that time, we have managed to build almost 30K customers, some of whom have purchased from us 9 times, such as Anthony from Fremont Ohio, Marilyn from Reno Nevada with 11 orders, and Sara from Coral Springs, FL with 25 orders.
We have built a reputable business shipping live plants all over the USA giving 30 days live arrival guarantee.
I have a full specialist license and have owned spas for many years in South Africa, Australia, and here in South Florida. I have done facials on thousands of clients over the years and have been in cosmetic manufacturing. In 2020, with the beginning of the pandemic, I decided to turn my hobby of plants into my profession and business.
Through my years as an aesthetician, I learned about skin and the damage the sun can cause. Since we are in the midst of summer, I will cover sun exposure issues, good and bad.
We all need Vitamin D whose roles in the body, include reduction of inflammation, antioxidants, support of immune health, bone health, muscle function, and brain cell activity. Vitamin D helps regulate insulin levels, keeps your energy levels up and enhances your mood.
Sunlight helps boost a chemical in your brain called serotonin, and that can give you more energy and help keep you calm, positive, and focused.
To maintain healthy blood levels, the aim is to get 10–30 minutes of midday sunlight, several times per week. People with darker skin may need a little more than this.
Some sunlight can be good as long as you have proper protection from overexposure. Too much ultraviolet, or UV, exposure can cause sunburn. The UV rays penetrate outer skin layers and hit the deeper layers of the skin, where they can damage or kill skin cells.
If you want to go to the beach or stay at the pool I recommend summer sun exposure until 10:00 am and after 5:00 pm. This way you are likely to get the safer sun rays which will do less damage to your skin.
Remember that overexposure to the sun will damage your skin cells. The results will show 20 years later as you age with pigmentation freckles, wrinkles, early aging, and in many cases, skin cancer.
When I lived in Australia, I used to walk to the beach from my house as an exercise. I would apply sunscreen and wear long-sleeved shirts but many times got burned on the back of my neck out of all places because I forgot to apply sunblock there. Australia's massive wildfires, especially in Sydney, shredded the ozone layer and you could feel the sun throbbing on your skin if you were not protected with effective waterproof sunblock.
In general, I recommend using SPF 50 protection or higher on your body and face when planning to go to the pool or the beach. I recommend Banana Boat Sunspray., which is what I use. It is very effective and has a cooling effect upon application.
You will tan but not burn.
I recommend reapplying the sunblock every hour for maximum protection while at the pool or at the beach.
I always say it's better to be safe than sorry.
It is important to treat sunburn immediately with calming products such as moisturizer that contains aloe vera or soy to help soothe the skin. Do this while your skin is still damp from a bath or shower.
Cetaphil face and body cream can be found in every pharmacy and supermarket. Apply it to damp skin after the shower. It is recommended to take cool showers a few times a day to cool the skin and drink plenty of water. Also do cool, damp compresses on the skin. Wet your towel with cold icy water, squeeze the towel but not too much, and apply it to the skin to cool it down.
Aloe Vera, which we sell at Verdant Lyfe, is the best and fastest solution as well. Apply it liberally on the skin, and in general, don't peel your skin, and don't wear tight clothes.
You take the Aloe Vera plant and break a leaf, like I am doing now and you use it liberally on the skin. Aloe Vera is best used for minor burns and skin irritations and should never be applied to an open wound. Aloe Vera is effective in treating first and second-degree burns. Applying aloe vera to your burn will help promote healing by reducing inflammation.
If you apply sun protection and are getting a bit of a tan, I recommend moisturizing your skin day and night. Keeping your skin soft and supple will delay aging of the skin. Please remember that 60% of the creams you apply on your skin get absorbed. Drinking water gives you energy, improves brain function, skin dehydration, and keeps you healthy in many aspects.
Remember, even driving in the car can expose your skin to the sun. Here in the USA, the driver normally gets much more sun damage on the left side of the face and arm because that side is more exposed to the sun. If you use a good moisturizer or foundation, most of them include basic sun protection of 20 SPF. Otherwise, use a sunblock spray or cream.
