Verdant Lyfe, A Woman Owned Direct to Consumer Houseplant Brand

Founded by a Mother & Daughter Team

Founded by Two Proud Women

International Women's Day (March 8) is a day to celebrate the achievements of women and to recognize the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equality. For us here at Verdant Lyfe we are proud to be a Woman Owned, Funded, and Managed Brand. Our journey is a unique story that puts us as a rarity in the Direct to Consumer and Houseplant areas. Over the last 20 years  women around the world have made significant strides in the world of business. Today, we want to highlight how proud we are of our female identity and recent WBENC certification to recognize our achievements as a mother and daughter team.

Verdant Lyfe was started in 2020 by myself, Ayelet Faerman, and my mom, Ofra Gaito. I turned around and decided that instead of being an attorney full time I could create and grow something beautiful with my mom. We come from the Cosmetics space where you would be surprised by the amount of men involved behind the scenes at every level for an industry geared towards women. We wanted to prove that we could make a business ourselves, centered around some of our core values.

The houseplant industry has exploded in recent years, with more people than ever before looking to bring a touch of green into their homes. From succulents to monsteras, houseplants have become a must-have accessory for any stylish home. But behind this trend, there are women-owned businesses that are driving innovation and growth in the industry. The women in our industry provide four important aspects.

Women-owned business matter for several reasons

  1. Representation: Women have historically been underrepresented in the business world, especially in leadership positions. When a brand is woman-owned, it can serve as a symbol of empowerment and representation for women and other underrepresented groups.

  2. Impact: Women-owned businesses can have a significant positive impact on the economy, as they create jobs and contribute to economic growth. When consumers support woman-owned businesses, they are helping to create more opportunities for women entrepreneurs and strengthening their local communities.

  3. Values: Some consumers may prefer to support woman-owned businesses because they share their values and beliefs. For example, they may believe in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment, or they may want to support businesses that prioritize ethical and sustainable practices.

  4. Diversity: Women-owned businesses can bring diversity of thought and perspective to the marketplace, which can lead to innovation and new ideas. By supporting woman-owned businesses, consumers can help to create a more diverse and inclusive business landscape.

Women-owned businesses in the houseplant industry are bringing their unique perspective and approach to business. Many of these businesses prioritize sustainable and ethical practices, ensuring that their products are grown and sourced responsibly. Women entrepreneurs in this industry are also creating spaces that are inclusive and welcoming, with a focus on education and community building. At Verdant Lyfe we continue to strive towards these goals and practices and improving our business everyday.

Celebrate International Women's Day, by sharing with us why you love to support women owned brands and help us recognize the contributions of all female entrepreneurs and the many others who are driving innovation and growth in the industry.

At the same time, we recognize that there is still work to be done to achieve gender equality in the business world. Women entrepreneurs continue to face significant challenges and barriers, particularly when it comes to access to capital and resources. We must continue to support and uplift women-owned businesses in the houseplant industry and beyond, to ensure that all women have the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
