Tropical Pitcher Nepenthes Rebecca

A carnivorous plant suitable for all our pink and red plant lovers this gorgeous Nepenthes Rebecca is available in a small 2" nursery pot to watch grow or already fully grown in an 8" hanging basket. This one is slightly harder to come by than our traditional Alata Nepenthes.  Excellent inside your home, very easy and forgiving, and will do well by the window sill.

A tropical pitcher plant native to parts of South East Asia, India, Madagascar, and Australia. Most are vines, but some remain compact in growth habit. The name "Monkey Cups" comes from monkeys occasionally drinking the fluid in the pitchers. The pitcher is actually a swelling of the mid-vein in the leaf. Ensure that the sphagnum moss is always kept moist. The pitchers should always have some water in them, so it is good to get some water in them while you're showering your plant, just make sure they are no more than 50% full of water. Failure to produce pitchers is an indication that the plant isn't receiving adequate light, water, or humidity.  These bog-loving plants do best when kept in a humid environment and only given distilled or rainwater.

It requires a cold winter dormancy between November and February. Temperatures in their natural habitats regularly dip below freezing over winter (0°C / 32°F). During such temperatures, they may go into dormancy and revive and provide new growth in the Spring. No need to fertilize these beauties as they produce plenty on their own from trapping bugs and insects.

The pot opening is about 8-9" wide and 5" deep - the hanger is almost 15" long making the entire plant close to 22" total plus all the beautiful hanging pitchers.  
  
• Olympia Planter - This plant comes packaged in a marble grey/white cylindrical porcelain planter pot ready for your home or office space on a raised white metal stand.

All our plants ship exclusively with UPS to ensure they arrive timely and in good condition. We ship most of our plants Mondays & Tuesdays to most of the USA to ensure they arrive speedy to your location. If you order on a Tuesday after 12 PM ET it is possible that we would not ship it till the following Monday.

We monitior the weather in each destination location to maximize the shipping time and utilize thermal protection to ensure that the plant is protected. You can add a heatpack or thermal bag to your order if temperatures at night fall below 40 degrees.
