An ornamental red pineapple plant is a tropical plant grown for its decorative leaves and small, inedible fruit. The leaves of the ornamental pineapple plant are long and spiky in a deep green, almost red coloring. The fruit is typically small and does not ripen, but it adds to the ornamental value of the plant. The plant is relatively easy to care for and can be grown in a container or in the ground in warm climates. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade and should be protected from frost. It is also drought-tolerant once established. With proper care, the ornamental pineapple plant can grow up to several feet tall.
This plant needs full sun, so a bright window or a grow light will keep its blooms happy and thriving with the most adorable baby pineapple on top.
This small-scale pineapple has fruit that reaches the size of a small tennis ball and serves as an ornamental plant than a fruiting crop. If you want one that will produce sweet edible pineapples, check out our Golden Pineapple Plant.
